'I haven’t spoken to anyone at the Warriors' - Shaun Johnson says he'll sort NRL future, will always love club

November 15, 2018

The star halfback says the next period of time off will allow him to sort his future, saying the Warriors will always be a club he’ll love regardless of whether he stays or not.

Shaun Johnson says the next period will allow him to sort his future, saying the Warriors will always be a club he’ll love regardless of whether he stays or not.

Arriving back home at Auckland Airport after the series defeat to England in the UK, Johnson said he had missed out on the Warriors dropping a bombshell by saying they were open to the star halfback leaving the club.

The star halfback can negotiate with other NRL clubs from November 1.

“I’ve obviously been away for a little while so sort of missed everything that happened back here,” he said.

“I haven’t had any chats with anyone, I haven’t spoken to anyone at the Warriors, I can’t really comment on what’s going to happen until I do that.”

Johnson said the process would start with him sitting down with his manager, as he thanked fans for messages of support.

“Probably speaking to my manager and speaking to whoever is keen to have a chat really so there’s honestly not much else I can say.”

“It is a business at the end of the day, I made my debut and played all my footy for the Warriors, it’s a club that, regardless if I’m here over the next few years, I’m always going to love.”
