Just three weeks ago, Auckland Rugby League - or to be precise the Carlaw Heritage Trust - looked to be close to purchasing the Warriors. That offer has now been withdrawn.

1 NEWS understands that final terms haven't been agreed on, with the asking price around $15 to 20 million.

It's unclear why Auckland League, having completed the due diligence process, decided to take its offer off the table with neither party commenting today.

The Warriors' owners are now looking at new options, with sources suggesting an American group having been in Auckland, looking at buying the club.

It is understood that the American group are linked with American Football, and the NFL.
