‘It will be weird seeing Joey Manu angry’ - Kangaroos star James Tedesco on facing Kiwis haka

October 10, 2018

The Roosters fullback said his Sydney teammate Manu is usually a "quiet kid".

Kangaroos fullback James Tedesco admits lining up to face the Kiwis haka on Saturday will be an interesting experience, with the NRL star set to face several Sydney Roosters teammates playing for New Zealand.

After being a part of the winning NRL grand final team, Tedesco is looking forward to his debut in the green and gold jumper and facing some familiar faces.

"It will be pretty intimidating I think, it will be weird to sort of see Joey (Manu) be angry and fire up," said Tesdesco.

"He's sort of a quiet kid but I'm sure we will have a bit of a laugh throughout the game."

Tedesco is up against Sydney Roosters teammates Manu, Jarred Waerea-Hargreaves and Isaac Liu who have been named to start for the Kiwis in Saturday's triple-header at Mount Smart in Auckland.

"I'm excited to see Joey verse Latrell (Mitchell), hopefully they are on the same side against each other, that will be a pretty good battle."

Tedesco, 25, praised Manu's performance throughout the season for the Roosters and guarantees if Manu and Sydney teammate Latrell are on the same edge opposite each other there will be fireworks.

"He's had a cracker season I think Latrell gets a lot of raps but Joey's been just as good I think," said Tedesco.

Both Manu and Latrell play in the centres for the Roosters in the NRL.

"Joey's defensive work has been his highlight and Latrell's been his attack, so yeah we'll see who wins that battle on the weekend."

The Kiwis face the Kangaroos as the finale of A trans-Tasman triple header this Saturday night, with the Junior Kiwis facing the Junior Kangaroos before the Kiwi Ferns take on the Jillaroos.
