Ryan Fox is off to a clean start at the European Tour's Dubai Desert Classic, posting a blemish-free two-under 70 in the opening round this morning.

The 31-year-old's solid start has him sitting in a share for 44th place, five shots off the pace set by Englishman Matthew Fitzpatrick.

Fox managed to net birdies on the eighth and 10th at the Emirates Golf Club, making him one of 16 players currently sitting at two-under in the tournament.

Fox, who celebrated his birthday in Dubai two days ago, began 2019 with a mixed performance after he finished in a tie for 27th at the Abu Dhabi Championship last week.
