Pizza and bowling: How Lydia Ko celebrated her return to the LPGA winner's circle

May 1, 2018

Kiwi golfer Lydia Ko kept her celebrations humble following her victory at the LPGA Mediheal Championship in San Francisco yesterday, relaxing with her closest friends.

Ko's win saw her climb five places in the world rankings, now sitting at number 13 in her bid to regain the top spot she held for so long.

Speaking to 1 NEWS' Guy Heveldt this morning, Ko opened up about yesterday's breakthrough and her celebrations.

"It's pretty cool to be back in the winner's circle again," she said.

"We just went out and had pizza, and went bowling with a few of my friends.

"It gives me confidence and a bit of relief that there are a lot of good things going on.

"I've just got to keep my head high, keep working hard and go from there."

Elsewhere, Ko's new swing coach Ted Oh was quick to deflect any praise away from himself, instead crediting the Kiwi for her victory.

"The bottom line is I can't take the credit," Oh told the Golf Channel.

"Honestly, there is nothing better than working with her. She'll just outwork everybody. We were together almost every day for four or five weeks in the off-season getting ready for the year.

"That's why I was so emotional after she won. I was there to witness all that hard work, and to see it finally paid off."
