Michael Campbell is ending his playing exile to compete in NZ Open

December 21, 2018

The golfing great will compete in the 100th edition of the tournament, almost two decades after winning the event.

New Zealand golfing legend Michael Campbell is ending his playing exile, coming out of retirement to compete at next year's 100th New Zealand Open.

The Open runs from February 28 to March 3 at Millbrook Resort in Queenstown.

Campbell last won the event almost two decades ago but hasn't fully played on tour for five years, citing burnout for his retirement.

One of only three Kiwi pros to have won a major, Campbell shot to fame when he upset Tiger Woods to win the 2005 US Open Championship.

Campbell, who turns 50 in March, plans to join the senior tour.
