Danny Lee surges into contention at Texas Open with brilliant third round

Danny Lee is in with an outside shot of glory at the PGA Tour's Texas Open, carding a third round -6 to move within range of the leaders in San Antonio.

Starting the day in a share of 28th, Lee's day threatened to be a long one for the Kiwi, with a bogey on the fourth hole seeing him drop further off the pace.

However, the Kiwi would begin to turn things around, starting with an eagle on the fifth hole, followed by two more birdies on the eighth and ninth, seeing him card a -3 front nine.

Moving to the back nine, Lee made an even par from the 10th to 13th holes, before another birdie on the 14th saw him move higher up the leaderboard.

One last bogey on the 15th was salvaged by three birdies to finish, giving Lee a -6 round of 66, temporarily seeing him up to third, eventually finishing in a tie for seventh at -10.

Lee trails the leader, South Korea's Si Woo Kim, by five shots going into tomorrow's final round.
