Ryan Fox has missed the cut after a tough finish to his second round at the Dubai Desert Classic overnight.

Fox started the tournament in solid form with a blemish-free two-under 70 to sit five shots off the lead in a 16-way tie for 44th.

Things were looking much the same after he started his second round with three birdies through the first 13 holes, but disaster struck on the 15th and 16th as Fox tallied back-to-back double bogeys that saw him plummet down the leaderboard.

He recovered to par the final two holes, but the damage was already done with the Kiwi golfer missing the three-under-overall cut by two strokes.

Fox had spent the week earlier at Emirates Golf Club celebrating his birthday before getting his campaign underway yesterday morning.
