Despite not tasting defeat in their past seven games, the Wellington Phoenix are just getting started, according to captain Andrew Durante and coach Mark Rudan.
Having not lost since a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Adelaide United on November 24, the Phoenix have become the A-League's form side, and could bring up a new club record unbeaten run against the Central Coast Mariners tomorrow night.
Speaking to media today though, the team have made it clear that tomorrow's clash won't see anything different from the side.
"We just need to ensure that we are in the right place physically and mentally - and we are," coach Rudan says.
"The boys are in great spirits, the focus really is on us, but we understand that they've got a team that's going to get try and a result as well.
"When it comes to runs, it's not something that I make mention of.
"It's simply about the process and ensuring that we are switched on, that every player understands their roles and responsibilities in any given game. Tomorrow's no different."
Captain Durante on the other hand says that the side are flying high off the back of the start to the 2018/19 campaign, having only just avoided the wooden spoon for a last placed finish a year earlier.
"Considering where we were last year, to where we are now, it's so exciting, so pleasing," Durante said.
"As a player, as fans, around Wellington and New Zealand at the moment, there's just such a good feel around the club at the moment.
"It hasn't come from luck or anything like that, it's been a lot of hard work.
"A lot of good recruiting, a lot of value sessions, a lot of soul searching, what we want to be as a football club, how we want to represent the people. At the moment we're doing it really well and hopefully it continues.
Tomorrow night's clash will be significant for Durante, with the veteran defender notching his 300th A-League match, with 259 of those for the Phoenix.
"We want to put on a good performance, we want to break records and get our eighth game undefeated," Durante says.
"We can do it, we know we can do it, so hopefully everyone gets out and supports us."
