Despite being on a club record nine-game unbeaten run, the Wellington Phoenix don't receive the respect they deserve from across the Tasman, according to manager Mark Rudan. And it's something the Australian coach is absolutely fine with.
After a phenomenal end to 2018, the Phoenix haven't tasted defeat since November, losing 3-1 to Adelaide United, moving to fifth on the A-League's overall ladder.
Speaking to media in Wellington today, though, coach Rudan says that he's more than happy with his side flying under the radar the way they are at the moment - with many of their opponents having taken them lightly.
"They can certainly see the type of team that we are now," Rudan began.
"I'm not just talking about the results but our style of play. It's there for all to see what we're about.
"We still don't get the credit we deserve from others - and I like that. It keeps on motivating us.
"It's very hard for opposition coaches and other teams to say anything good about us. That's when I know that we're starting to get under their skin a little bit.
"We'll just keep fighting the good fight, and doing what we do as Wellington Phoenix."
Rudan's Phoenix are next in action against Sydney FC tomorrow night.
