Watch: Peru fans go bonkers as footballing heroes arrive at Wellington Airport

The Peruvian football team has arrived to a hero's welcome after arriving in Wellington today.

Hundreds of Peruvians fans were on hand at Wellington Airport as the team arrived from Auckland, ahead of tomorrow's first World Cup play-off clash against New Zealand.

There was plenty of noise and colour as the team's fans willed them on, as they bid to reach the World Cup for the first time since 1982.

'It's been a really good week' – All Whites coach confident ahead of Peru play-off

All Whites coach Anthony Hudson is adamant his side are well prepared for the first leg of their intercontinental play-off with Peru in Wellington tomorrow.

Speaking to media before the match, Hudson says that he couldn't have asked for a better lead-in to arguably the biggest match of his time in charge of New Zealand.

"It's been a really good week of preparation," he said.

"We've just been able to focus on ourselves and the plan."

"We've got a good plan, we've got a good team. Everyone understands what we need to do."
