A Dutch footballer had absolutely nowhere to hide after missing a goal that has to be seen to be believed.

Dennis van Duinen, a defensive midfielder for Harkemase Boys, ran onto a ball lofted towards Capelle's goal and found himself in open space after he read it well enough to edge it past the pressing defence.

The 20-year-old was then met by the rushing goalkeeper just outside the box but was given a favourable bounce as the ball presented itself in front of the goal with no-one left to beat.

All van Duinen had to do was tap it in.

Instead, he strolled around to sit behind the ball and fire it home - except rather than finding the back of the net, his shot from 10 metres out flew well above the crossbar to his embarrassment and Capelle's delight.

The afternoon got even worse for van Duinen and Harkemase Boys as they blew their 2-0 lead to lose yesterday's game 3-2.
