Watch: All Whites coach takes huge dig at Peru over late-night fireworks, says sleep deprivation a factor

November 16, 2017

Anthony Hudson says his team should have been staying nearer their opponents the night before the match.

All Whites coach Anthony Hudson has taken a swing at Peru after late-night distractions hit the team before today's World Cup qualifier defeat in Lima.

The area around the team's hotel was barraged by fireworks the night before the match, and the Peruvian military also got in on the act, doing an Air Force fly-by.

After today's 2-0 loss, Hudson admitted they could have done with more sleep, saying he'd never seen anything like it.

"We'd have had a better chance of winning this match if our hotel was sat right next to Peru's national team," he said.

"Had some more sleep."
