In the wake of 20,000 tickets for the All Whites' clash with Peru on November 11 being sold within an hour of them going on sale, New Zealand Football CEO Andy Martin says that his organisation are powerless to stop them being scalped.
With ticket sales now up around the 23-24,000 mark, the prospect of a sell-out is an ever increasing reality for the clash, with tickets yet to go on sale to the general public.
Yet, with such high demand for a once in four year event, the possibility of those scalping tickets will most definitely see some fans paying over the odds to attend the match.
"It's probably gonna happen, but there's not a lot we can do about it," Martin said.
Martin however, says that NZ Football have tried - in vain - to have the match protected from scalpers being able to take advantage of those who missed out.
"We did make some representations about the game, about whether we could get it protected," he told 1 NEWS.
"Unfortunately we couldn't qualify. That was unfortunate, but there is a clear set of rules that we didn't quite meet."
