NZ Football CEO beams over 'gangbusters' ticket sales for All Whites v Peru

October 17, 2017

Over 20,000 tickets were sold in the first hour for the November play-off.

New Zealand Football are thrilled with today's ticket sales for the All Whites' intercontinental play-off with Peru on November 11, with over 20,000 sold in the first hour alone.

With tickets having only gone on sale at midday, over 20,000 of the 36,500 capacity are already sold, with NZ Football CEO Andy Martin over the moon at the early success.

"The first hour has gone gangbusters, we're really delighted," Martin told 1 NEWS.

"We sold 20,000 tickets in the first hour, which is unheard of for football. Right now we're up at sort of 23-24 (thousand)."

Martin also spoke about the All Whites' fans buying into the importance of the match, with the winner of the two legged tie booking their spot at next year's Football World Cup in Russia.

"People see the significance of this game - it's huge, really, really huge."

"This is gonna be a big occasion and we've got to shout the guys through to a good result going out to Peru."

The speed of today's ticket sales also eclipse those of the All Whites' 2009 clash with Bahrain, Martin said.

"The stadium said that it was 14,000 in the first day, last time around for Bahrain."

"This is fantastic, we thank everybody for doing that."
