After the first leg in Wellington on November 11, both sides will race to Peru for the return fixture.

The All Whites could be forced into sharing a chartered plane to Lima after the first leg of their intercontinental World Cup play-off with Peru, the CEO of New Zealand Football says.

After full-time in the first leg of the tie on November 11, both sides will be in a race against time to get to South America, ahead of the second leg in the Peruvian capital on November 16.

Speaking to 1 NEWS yesterday, NZ Football's Andy Martin said that the ideal situation would see both sides travel together, ensuring neither team has an advantage in the second leg.

"We've got a number of charter options coming in - which clearly are very, very expensive."

"We don't want to see Peru charter in and out and we're left behind."

"I think the preferred option, is to get FIFA to help both teams to go back together in a charter - get there in the 14 hours it'll take, get out on the Saturday night if we can."

"Then everyone can prepare accordingly."
