The Football Ferns' new coach has been found, with former USA and Australia women's boss Tom Sermanni today revealed as the man to replace Andreas Heraf.

Hailing from Scotland, 64-year old Sermanni takes the Football Ferns role after recently coaching the Orlando Pride in the American National Women's Soccer League, taking over the New Zealand side after international experience coming from two stints in charge of Australia, and the USA Women's side.

In a statement released by New Zealand Football, Sermanni said he was looking forward to joining the Football Ferns heading into next year's World Cup.

"I'm delighted to be given the challenge of qualifying the Football Ferns for the World Cup in France next year," Sermanni said from Orlando.

"During my time in coaching I've always had a close relationship with the team and I am very pleased to have the opportunity to lead the program during this exciting time."

Sermanni's first act in charge of the Football Ferns comes in next month's OFC Women's Nations Cup, facing off with Tonga, the Cook Islands and Fiji in the group stage, beginning November 18.
