Football Ferns U17 keeper Anna Leat considering offers after World Cup heroics

Goalkeeper Anna Leat is playing in Sunday's national final where the Northern Lights hosts Canterbury United.

It's a long way from the glitz of a FIFA World Cup, but for many of the U17 stars it’s back to business at this weekend's National Women's League final.

The Northern Lights host Canterbury United Pride, with several of the Young Football Ferns featuring.

Among the returning players is standout goalkeeper Anna Leat, who’s just arrived back in New Zealand after touring universities in the United States.

"It's pretty cool re-uniting with [my teammates]," said Leat.

"Looking at each other like, 'woah that really happened didn't it?'"

Leat has confirmed to 1 NEWS she is considering multiple offers for next year and will make a decision on her chosen destination"soon."

Northern coach Gemma Lewis says it's a massive boost having so many internationals playing for Northern, who will come up against a Canterbury side spearheaded by league MVP Annalie Longo.

"Having that sort of exposure and the girls becoming well known names all of a sudden is huge for the game," said Lewis.

"People coming down and seeing these players it just brings a bit more of a big thing to the occasion."
