'I feel comfortable here' – Nathan Burns on rejecting other offers to re-join Phoenix

December 30, 2017

The striker was in hot demand after leaving Japanese club Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

New Wellington Phoenix recruit Nathan Burns has revealed he rejected offers from other Australian sides to return to his former side, having re-signed with the bottom placed A-League club earlier today.

Burns, 29, re-joins the Phoenix on a two-year deal, having scored 14 goals in 24 matches for the club from 2014-2015.

Speaking exclusively to 1 NEWS, Burns detailed why he chose to come back to Wellington.

"I'm excited with the brand of football that they're playing," he said.

"Obviously the results haven't been so great, but they're still playing a brand of football."

Burns also spoke about other possible offers that he turned down in order to re-join the Phoenix.

"There are clubs in Australia (interested), but personally I spoke to my fiance and we just made the decision to come here.

"We were both happy here last time, it just fits right."
