All Whites v Peru clash sells 20,000 tickets in first hour

October 17, 2017

New Zealand face the South Americans in Wellington on November 11.

An astonishing 20,000 tickets for the All Whites' intercontinental play-off with Peru in November have been sold within the first hour.

As the pre-sale of tickets to those on the All Whites' Road to Russia waitlist were released at midday, fans didn't wait long to take their chance to see New Zealand try and qualify for their first World Cup since 2010.

In a statement, New Zealand Football CEO Andy Martin said that he is thrilled with the numbers, putting the match on course to be the most well-attended All Whites fixture of all time.

"We knew there was huge demand for this game and that has been shown today by the New Zealand public," he said.

"This is the highest demand we have ever seen for an All Whites match in New Zealand.

"We can't wait for November 11 which is not only going to be a special day for New Zealand Football but for sport in this country. There is unprecedented demand for this event and I think people recognise it is a one-in-four-year event and also that this All Whites team has a real chance of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup in Russia."

The All Whites face world number 10 ranked Peru at Wellington's Westpac Stadium on November 11, before the return leg in the Peruvian capital Lima on November 16, with the winner earning a spot at next year's tournament in Russia.
