The White Ferns have gone for a mixture of youth and experience for their upcoming T20 series with India, naming their 13-strong side for the three match series next month.

Following strong performances in the Burger King Women's Super Smash, the duo of Northern Districts' Katie Gurrey, and Central Districts' Rosemary Mair have been rewarded with their first international call-ups.

Meanwhile Canterbury's Frankie MacKay returns to the side for the first time since 2014.

Gurrey and Mackay currently occupy the top two positions on the Super Smash run-charts, with coach Haidee Tiffen unable to resist the pair's performances.

Haidee Tiffen spoke to 1 NEWS about her T20 side to face India.

"Frankie, Katie and Rosemary can all be proud of how they have performed in their respective Burger King Super Smash campaigns," Tiffen said.

"We are rewarding players who are in form and we feel these three deserve a chance at the highest level."

Elsewhere, the selectors' axe has swung on the side that took part in the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean, with the likes of Katie Perkins, Maddy Green, Lauren Down, Holly Huddelston and Anna Peterson among those to miss out.

The White Ferns' three-match T20 series against India begins on February 6 in Wellington.

White Ferns squad:  Amy Satterthwaite (c), Suzie Bates, Bernadine Bezuidenhout, Sophie Devine, Katie Gurrey, Hayley Jensen, Leigh Kasperek, Amelia Kerr, Frankie MacKay, Katey Martin, Rosemary Mair, Hannah Rowe, Lea Tahuhu.
