White Ferns hoping to get one up on Aussie rivals in three match series before T20 World Cup

September 28, 2018

New skipper Amy Satterthwaite said they're focused on the series but has one eye on November.

It's a massive weekend for sport coming up in Australia and vying for part of the attention is the White Ferns.

They start their three match T20 series against Australia in Sydney tomorrow as they gear up for a big couple of months that finish with a shot at World Cup glory in November.

New White Ferns captain Amy Satterthwaite admits she’s keen to use the series to set down a marker.

"I think if you get that sort of edge then that helps going into the likes of a T20 World Cup," she said.

"But at the same time, we have to have one eye on that tournament and know we have to get information out of these games as well."

The Australians admit they come into this series with a bit of a chip on their shoulders - they've lost eight of their last 11 T20s against the Kiwi side.

"They've got a very good record against us," Meg Lanning said.

"It's something we're very keen to change and we've spoken about that a little bit making sure we come out and make a statement in the first game."
