White Ferns captain Amy Satterthwaite says that the team would be happy with coach Haidee Tiffen returning to the side, having last week stood down from her role.
Tiffen, 39, last week announced she was stepping down from her job as head coach of the White Ferns going into the Rose Bowl series against Australia, coming in the wake of a review into last year's disastrous World T20 campaign.
Speaking as the White Ferns left for Australia today, though, captain Satterthwaite said that she'd have no issue with Tiffen re-applying for her old job, with her current contract to expire in the near future.
"I want her to reapply for the job," Satterthwaite said.
"At the end of the day, New Zealand Cricket have decided to go through this process.
"We know that there's hopefully going to be a lot of candidates that apply for the job. I'm sure that we'll end up with the best candidate for the position."
Satterthwaite also says that the team have been in contact with Tiffen, hailing her impact while coach of the White Ferns.
"She's been a massive part of this team. We're going to miss not having her around on the tour against Australia.
"We know that we've also got a job at hand, and we have to put our focus onto that in the short term, and get that right."
The White Ferns' Rose Bowl series with Australia begins on February 22.
