Watch: Lockie Ferguson sends stumps flying with bullet deliveries, earns five-wicket ODI haul against Pakistan

November 12, 2018

Lockie Ferguson's career-best outing in an ODI was given a bit of a dampener in Dubai this morning after the Black Caps' third match with Pakistan was rained off during a high-pressure chase.

The Black Caps suffered an early setback after captain Kane Williamson was ruled out with a groin injury, meaning Tom Latham took over the captaincy while BJ Watling was introduced to the middle order.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat in the final ODI, the hosts managed to produce a target of 280 after they finished 279-8.

Ferguson did most of the damage for the Black Caps' bowling attack, taking 5-45.

It was much needed, with the rest of the bowling unit struggling heavily. Trent Boult finished with 1-80, Matt Henry was 1-53 and Ish Sodhi couldn't find the stumps, ending with 0-51.

The Black Caps then set about chasing down the total but suffered an early blow after opener Colin Munro was sent packing for a two-ball duck by Shaheen Afridi.

With Henry Nicholls and George Worker looking to get things back on track, umpires called play off near 7am NZT after the heavens opened up and rain began to fall.

While the weather did show some signs of letting up, it wasn't enough to get play going again and the game was called off with the Black Caps sitting at 35-1.

The series was tied.
