The Trinbago Knight Riders have secured a close win over the Barbados Tridents in the CPL this afternoon, defending their total of 180 for a nine run victory.
Kiwis Colin Munro and Brendon McCullum played small roles in the Knight Riders total, posting scores of 28 and 4 respectively.
However, a strong performance from West Indies all-rounder DJ Bravo proved the difference between the two sides.
Bravo entered the Knight Riders' innings late and posted 33 runs off 20 balls, thanks mostly to the three 4s and two 6s he smacked in his time at the crease.
Bravo then helped the cause with an impressive fielding display, claiming the Tridents' top run scorer Nicolas Pooran with a pinpoint throw to secure a runout.
Pooran was dismissed for 44 with the rest of his side not able to get higher than 26.
The win puts Trinbago firmly on top of the CPL standings with their seventh win in eight matches this season - their next closest rival is the Guyana Amazon Warriors four points behind with five wins.
For the Tridents, it brings to an end a tough campaign in which they only secured two wins in ten matches.
Black Caps batsman Martin Guptill didn't feature in the match for the Tridents but will return to New Zealand for a few domestic matches before the Black Caps begin their summer.
