Teenage White Fern Amelia Kerr lands contract in English T20 competition

May 24, 2018

The 17-year-old all-rounder has signed with the Southern Vipers.

New Zealand's teenage all-rounder Amelia Kerr has landed a contract to play in England's T20 cricket competition in July.

the 17-year-old Wellington leg-spinner has signed for the Southern Vipers alongside her White Ferns skipper Suzie Bates.

But it probably wasn’t as straight forward for the young White Fern as it was for her captain, with Kerr needing permission from her parents and high school to sign the deal.

Regardless, Kerr says it’s a great learning opportunity.

"It’s really good practice for me, especially going into the T20 World Cup at the end of the year."

But before making her debut in English cricket, Kerr will head away next week with the White Ferns for their tour of Ireland and England.
