Ross Taylor cracks a funny while spilling secret to consistency ahead of fourth World Cup - 'I gave up bowling'

April 3, 2019

Taylor feels he still has a couple more years left in him at 35-years-old.

Veteran Black Caps batsman Ross Taylor has revealed the secret behind his ability to consistently remain at the top of his game despite his advancing years.

Taylor was asked questions by students at Tai Tapu Primary School about his longevity in the sport after being selected for his fourth World Cup campaign this morning.

The 35-year-old let out a cheeky smile before answering.

"I gave up bowling a long time ago," he said.

"If anyone's seen me bowl, you would understand."

Taylor added another big reason is he's been able to come back from injuries in the past and he hopes there's "a few more years left" in him.

The Central Stags star says he'll know when it's time to walk away from the game.

"The day that I don't get nervous is probably the day to give up," he said.

"When you have nerves, it shows you care."
