De Kock injured his finger during the second which South African won by eight wickets after chasing down the Black Caps' low second innings total of 171 on day three at the Basin Reserve in Wellington.

The 24-year-old top-scored for his team with 91 runs in the first innings before being bowled by Jimmy Neesham.

Should de Kock be ruled out, his replacement would be uncapped 25-year-old Heinrich Klaasen who received his first Test squad selection for the tour of New Zealand.

A final decision will be made tomorrow. The Test starts on Saturday.
