Kane Williamson declared fit for opening Test against Pakistan

Black Caps captain Kane Williamson has declared himself fit to play in the first Test against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi.

Williamson, 28, missed the final match of the ODI series against Pakistan last week, suffering a minor groin strain and left out of the Black Caps' XI as a precaution.

However, Williamson has trained with the side in recent days, and will bat in his customary number three spot in the Black Caps' lineup.

Elsewhere, Central Districts left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel or Auckland's Will Sommerville could be in line for a debut, should coach Gary Stead look to include two spinners in the lineup, meaning one of Tim Southee or Neil Wagner would miss out.

Play begins on day one of the first Test against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi at 7pm.

Black Caps line-up (possible): 1. Jeet Raval, 2. Tom Latham, 3. Kane Williamson (c), 4. Ross Taylor, 5. Henry Nicholls, 6. BJ Watling (wk), 7. Colin de Grandhomme, 8. Tim Southee/Neil Wagner, 9. Ish Sodhi, 10. Ajaz Patel/Will Sommerville, 11. Trent Boult.
