Black Caps seamer Trent Boult is being singled out as New Zealand's danger man ahead of the upcoming ODI series against India starting overnight in Mumbai.

Boult, 28, is expected to lead the New Zealand bowling attack in the series, having taken six wickets in the Black Caps' two warm-up matches, including a haul of 5-38 in their opening match against the Indian President's XI.

Addressing media overnight, India's vice-captain Rohit Sharma made it clear that Boult is the bowler that his side will have to watch out for.

"For us as batters, it will be a challenge to face a left-arm seamer and Trent Boult being one of their prime left-arm fast bowlers, it will be a huge challenge for all the batters to come good against [him]," he said.

"We played them last time and we know what they'll bring to the table and we know what they're capable of as a bowling unit."

Boult has played just four ODI matches against India, taking six wickets at an average of 33, down on his overall record of 90 wickets from 51 matches at an average of 25.48.
