A social media campaign has been launched to get the popular Alternative Commentary Collective reinstated to Cricket World Cup coverage.
The offbeat commentary team had been calling New Zealand's matches from a pitch-side caravan.
However, the team's accreditation was pulled for the tournament after one of its members, comedian Leigh Hart, accompanied a drinks trolley onto the Napier pitch during Sunday's win over Afghanistan.
The International Cricket Council has strict rules surrounding who is allowed on the field during matches, although the ACC says Mr Hart was asked join the trolley as part of a sponsor's promotion.
A Facebook campaign has been started to "Bring back to ACC", which has close to 1000 likes, with fans quick to express their displeasure at the decision.
"These guys make cricket interesting enough to watch," said Ants Whitehouse.
"I'm filthy about his decision mate," added Richard Dobson.
Another member of the ACC, Jeremy Wells, used his role as a Hauraki host today to say "thank you very much for your support. We appreciate it greatly".
New Zealand's next match is against Bangladesh in Hamilton on Friday.
