Colin Munro dropped for first two ODIs against Bangladesh

Colin Munro is bowled in the fifth ODI against India

Black Caps batsman Colin Munro's hopes of selection for this year's Cricket World Cup appear to have taken a serious hit, named for just the third upcoming One Day International against Bangladesh.

Munro, 31, was axed for the fourth match of the Black Caps' ODI series against India, with Henry Nicholls instead preferred as an opening batsman, before making his comeback in the fifth and final match after an injury to Martin Guptill.

However, as the Black Caps today named their sqaud for the three-match series against Bangladesh, Munro has been overlooked for the opening two matches, coming in for the finale with captain Kane Williamson given a rest.

Elsewhere, Guptill will return from his back injury pending a fitness test, while Jimmy Neesham is also included having initially missed out on the India series through injury.

We're delighted to have Martin back on the park for this series; he's a world-class player and an integral part of our one-day side," selector Gavin Larsen said.

"He and Henry did a good job opening up in Hamilton against India and they're a combination we want to see some more of in this series, before Colin returns to the top for the third game with Kane resting."

Tom Latham will captain the side in the third and final match in Dunedin, with Kane Williamson given a break.

The Black Caps' ODI series with Bangladesh begins on February 13 in Napier.
