Budding young NZ cricketer gets boost after Pakistan batting great responds to letter with masterclass

May 10, 2018

A budding young Kiwi cricketer has been given an offseason boost for the ages after his hero responded to his letter with an online batting masterclass.

Felix Anderson, a 12-year-old cricketer playing at the Kumeu club in Auckland, wrote a letter to Pakistan batting great Younis Khan two years ago, complete with a picture of the batting star, asking for tips.

"I am writing to you because you are one of my biggest heroes. Your technique is beautiful to watch – how perfect your cover drive is or how your cut is timed. Your 313 against Sri Lanka was incredible to watch," the letter, which Younis posted to Twitter, read.

"Can you please give me advice on the cut shot, or the cover drive?"

Younis apologised for his delayed response, saying the letter had only just come across his path, before giving Felix a masterclass that he posted to twitter.

The timing of the instructional video at least gives Felix plenty of time to perfect the two shots before the start of the next season.
