A report out of Western Australia suggests the Black Caps could square off with Australia in a day-night Test as early as next year.

The Black Caps will tour Australia next year where they'll play in their first Boxing Day Test in 32 years but moves are being made behind the scenes to make another Test in the three-match series memorable.

Brett Spriggs, a broadcaster for ABC, said WACA CEO Christina Matthews is pushing for a day-night Test at Perth Stadium as early as next December when the Black Caps tour Australia.

The Black Caps have competed in two pink ball Tests since they were introduced in 2015.

They played the first such match against Australia, going down by three wickets in Adelaide, and one earlier this year against England where they won by an innings and 49 runs.
