Black Caps expecting fight against India after Sri Lanka clean sweep

January 12, 2019

The two sides meet for five ODIs and three T20Is from next week.

Having swept Sri Lanka across the Test, ODI and T20 series', the Black Caps know that sterner challenges are on the horizon when India arrive later this week.

With a 1-0 Test series win, along with 3-0 in the ODI series, the Black Caps sent Sri Lanka home winless, taking a 35-run victory in the lone T20 at Eden Park last night.

However, their celebrations may be short lived, with the five-match ODI series with India beginning on January 23 in Napier, followed by three Twenty20 Internationals.

Speaking to media after last night's win though, fast bowler Lockie Ferguson is relishing going up against the likes of Virat Kohli, with India having just secured a first-ever Test series win away to Australia.

"They're going to be quite high with confidence," Ferguson began.

"We're confident with our own conditions and the way we've been playing cricket and sticking to what we're doing well.

"They're definitely going to be challenging, there's no doubt about that, but we'll do the hard work, and as we did last night, we'll keep believing we can win the games, and hopefully we can get across the line."
