Eileen Cikamatana, 18, has delivered a moment of golden joy for her country.

Fijians who were lucky enough to witness their first Commonwealth Games gold medal in 16 years sung and danced with joy on the Gold Coast today.

Eileen Cikamatana, 18, claimed the spoils in the women's 90kg weightlifting today, winning her nations first gold medal since Manchester in 2002. 

After being given her medal, she joined friends, family and team-mates in celebration, as the Pacific nation enjoyed its sporting success.

It's Fiji's second medal of the games after Apolonia Vaivai won bronze in the 69kg weightlifting, while its men's sevens team will look to win its first Commonwealth Games gold this weekend.
