Samoa’s 17-year-old weightlifter Feagaiga Stowers has won her nation’s second gold medal on day five of the Commonwealth Games.

Following injured Kiwi Laurel Hubbard’s sensational withdrawal from the over 90kg women’s competition, Stowers lifted a combined 253kg to claim gold ahead of Nauru’s Charisma Amoe-Tarrant.

England’s Emily Campbell won bronze.

Hubbard withdrew after injuring her left elbow attempting a Commonwealth Games record of 132kg in the snatch.

The New Zealander was 7kg ahead of Stowers when the injury occurred.
