The former chef de mission of the Mauritius Commonwealth Games team has been charged with sexually assaulting an athlete at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.
Queensland state police today confirmed Kaysee Teeroovengadum had been charged following a complaint by a 26-year-old woman in the athletes' village last week.
The 52-year-old Teeroovengadum will face Southport Magistrates Court on April 17.
On Thursday, a spokesman for Mauritius Sports Minister Stephan Toussaint confirmed Teeroovengadum had stepped down from his role and left the village.
