'It enhanced my racing' – Sophie Pascoe says she thrived on Comm Games leadership role

Kiwi para swimmer Sophie Pascoe was inspired by her role as New Zealand flag bearer for the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony on the Gold Coast, saying she enjoyed the responsibility.

Pascoe, 25, carried the New Zealand flag into the Gold Coast opening ceremony, before taking home two gold medals from this year's Commonwealth Games.

Appearing on TVNZ1's Breakfast this morning, Pascoe opened up about the added responsibility placed on her shoulders before the games.

"It definitely enhanced my racing," she said.

"I had the pressure on to be team captain, and back up my performances from Glasgow.

"I definitely used that pressure to enhance my racing, and use that for the rest of the team to have a good games."
