'I could definitely hear the crowd' - Sophie Pascoe holds off fast-finishing Aussie to double her medal haul

Sophie Pascoe admits she knew an Aussie rival was closing her down quick by the roar of the Gold Coast crowd.

No matter, as, like she always does, she had that one final push when on the hunt for a gold medal.

New Zealand's flag bearer finished a clean-sweep of events tonight, adding the women's SB9 100m breaststroke title to Saturday's 200m individual medley crown.

She didn't have it all her own way - Australia's Paige Leonhardt closing over the final 25 metres.

"I couldn't see them but I could definitely hear the crowd," she said.

"Some Aussie was on my back but that's amazing thing about this crowd here tonight. We are their neighbours and we know we have that bittersweet rivalry."

Ever the perfectionist, she wasn't entirely happy with her effort.

"It was tough. I'm going back to analyse with my coach about what I did," she said.

"Tonight was about winning and the time (1:18.09) was slower than in the morning (1:17.09) so it was a bit disappointing on my behalf because I obviously have to set myself very high expectations."

"I didn't expect what I did this morning but I'm just stoked to back up what I did four years ago (gold in the same event in Glasgow 2014)."
