It was a medal rush for Kiwi cyclists as the first day of competition at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games came to an end.
Highlight of the day would have to be the Men's Team Sprint winning New Zealand's first gold of the games … and of course Eddie Dawkins running up into the stands to hug and kiss his family post-race.
But that wasn't New Zealand’s first medal of the day, the Women's team pursuit were first on the podium being awarded silver after losing the gold medal final to Australia.
The women's team sprint also finished second on the podium, an astonishing 18 months after they started training together.
The veledrome wasn't without drama last night though, as the Men's Team Pursuit qualified for the bronze medal final only to be disqualified due to one of their bikes not meeting the regulations in qualifications.
Back on the Gold Coast there were plenty more Kiwis in action.
First up in the morning were the triathletes who missed out on podium finishes.
The day kicked off with Andrea Hewitt, Rebecca Spence and Nicole Van Der Kaay racing in the women's triathlon.
Van Der Kaay was best of the bunch, finishing one minute and 41 seconds off the pace in seventh, while Spence came in 10th, and medal hopeful Hewitt finished 13th.
Ryan Sissons, Tayler Reid and Tony Dodds were next to race in the Men's triathlon.
Reid was second out of the swim, hot on the heels of a Brownlee brother, and moved into the front pack of six during the bike leg, despite copping abuse from rivals he managed to get through transition first, but dropped down the pack in the run, finishing 11th overall.
Sissons however finished fifth after a mammoth effort in the run.
It was a good start to competition for Kiwi swimmers Daniel Hunter and Sam Perry who qualified for the Men's 50m butterfly final.
Corey Main also had a good swim in the 100m backstroke semis earning him a spot in the finals.
