Kiwi Oklahoma City Thunder star Steven Adams has given his strongest indication yet that he is willing to finally pull on the Tall Blacks jersey in the near future.
The NBA star wouldn't say when but maintained he had a "close" relationship with New Zealand coach Paul Henare and that he was waiting for the right time to get onto court wearing black.
"When the time's right, I'll throw it on but there's just a lot of spring cleaning that needs to be done."
Adams praised the national coach and commended him on his recent efforts in the Asian Cup where New Zealand came fourth.
"He's doing an amazing job at it and he has a vision of how he sees the Tall Blacks and how they want to play and he's fighting for that."
The Rotorua-born basketballer is yet to play for is country, as up till now has made himself unavailable for international selection while he concentrates on establishing himself in the NBA.
