New-look Breakers aiming to retain same culture with new NBL season looming

Just four players have returned to the Kiwi club from last year.

A new coach, New players and a new style of play – it’s the Breakers like you've never seen them before.

Just four players - Tom Abercrombie, Shea Ili, Jordan Ngatai and Finn Delany - have returned from last season making this season a step into the relative unknown.

However, Abercrombie says the unfamiliar is exciting.

"Obviously, there’s been a bit of change at the club but I think everyone's brought in some great energy and is excited to start a new season with some new faces and really get after it."

While it's a new look with a more offensive game plan, new coach Kevin Braswell says some elements will remain the same.

"You don't want to change too much," he said.

"Especially things like the culture and the values and what the club stands for, you never want to change that."

The team’s pre-season started in earnest with a gruelling fitness test yesterday.

Today, they were in at 4am for the first of two training sessions with just seven weeks left to find the perfect formula before the season begins.
