Breakers star Tai Wesley fined $1000 for NBL referee comments

Tai Wesley has become the second New Zealand Breaker to be fined $1000 following their contentious NBL double-header loss to the Perth Wildcats in round seven.

Wesley was punished for comments made to referee Michael Aylen during the final quarter as the Wildcats overturned a nine-point deficit to win 91-86 in Perth on November 25.

The Guam international power forward pleaded no contest to the NBL tribunal and accepted the fine, which has $250 of it suspended for two years. He is available to play the Sydney Kings in Auckland on Saturday.

Breakers coach Kevin Braswell was previously fined $1000 for his comments panning what he deemed unfair officiating following the loss to Perth in Auckland two days earlier.

Five players from the Kiwi club fouled out in that game, including Wesley.
