'Yes I do take a different perspective' – Jacinda Ardern on being a young leader on the international stage

The PM spoke on Q+A this morning.

Prime Minster Jacinda Ardern has spoken about her different take on important issues as a young leader after the ASEAN Summit in the Philippines.

In her first trip overseas as Prime Minister, discussions revolved around security issues, North Korea and the South China Sea.

She may have been the newest leader at the APEC and ASEAN, but the PM certainly wasn't shy about raising contentious issues.

But Ms Ardern stood apart in her differing perspective when she diverted the conversation towards climate change. She was one of two leaders to touch on the topic.

"Yes I do take a different perspective," she said.

Corin Dann interviews the PM, who says NZ should be advocates on behalf of the region.

"I hope to speak on behalf of New Zealand and it's view as an international player," said Ms Ardern, indifferent of her age and generation.
