Worker injured after fire breaks out at Ports of Auckland

The driver of the piece of machinery was injured in the blaze.

A fire has broken out at Ports of Auckland today.

Photos posted on social media show thick black smoke wafting from the downtown location.

Ports of Auckland spokesperson Matt Ball has told 1 NEWS a reach stacker, a machine used to stack shipping containers, caught fire.

The blaze is confined to the machine which may have malfunctioned.

The driver has been taken to Auckland Hospital with moderate injuries. No one else is injured.
