A $35 bet in a poker game turned into a $1.1 million progressive jackpot for a woman at Auckland's SkyCity casino.
Stuff reports the woman was playing Caribbean Stud Poker at the casino last night and won the progressive jackpot with a royal flush.
The player beat odds of 648,740 to one to win the hand, a SkyCity spokesperson told the news outlet.
Group chief operating officer Michael Ahearne said the progressive jackpot has not been this big for more than seven years.
A casino supervisor said the winner appeared shocked after the winning hand was dealt and gave a small amount of money to the other players at her table.
Players in Caribbean Stud Poker are dealt five cards and the aim is to achieve a five-card poker hand higher than what the dealer has, Stuff explained.
The winner's $35 bet had included a side bet which made her eligible to win the progressive jackpot.
