Woman seriously injured in SH1 crash between truck and Lime scooter in Dunedin

January 18, 2019

A 26-year-old woman was left seriously injured after a truck hit a Lime e-scooter along a Dunedin stretch of State Highway 1 overnight.

Police were called to the intersection of Dunda and Cumberland streets in North Dunedin around 1.45am.

The patient was taken to Dunedin Hospital, and the Serious Crash Unit is now investigating.

Authorities described the woman as a foreign national but were initially unsure if she is a tourist or a student. Police are currently working to get in touch with her overseas-based family, they said.

The crash resulted in State Highway 1 being closed to southbound traffic for hours between Howe and St David streets, the New Zealand Transport Agency reported this morning.
