Woman punched after disturbing robber on her Hastings property

Police in Hastings are on the lookout for an unidentified man accused of having punched a woman after he was caught in the act of robbing her home on Friday.

The man left on foot after the confrontation, which took place at about 1.30am at a Jellicoe Rd property in Hastings, police said. They believe it is an isolated incident and that there isn’t reason for the wider community to be concerned.

The suspect is believed to be 35- to 45-year-old Māori with a tall, solid build, a short beard and curly hair.
