Woman dies as emergency services respond to serious Kapiti Coast assault

A woman has died as a result of a serious assault at Paraparaumu Beach on the Kapiti Coast tonight, police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called to an address on Marine Parade at around 8pm.

Police discovered a woman's body on their arrival at the address, with a man taken into custody at nearby Raumati South a short time later.

Cordons are in place at the corner of Marine Parade and Howell Street, and will be in place overnight.
